Wild Peruvian Scalares

Post  Simon Marshall on Sun 14 Jul 2013, 20:07

Guys just seen some sub adult Wild Scalares at a LFS as we have been out visiting relatives today so I decided to go and have a look not expecting to see anything, but these guys were mint and wondered what the going rate foir these fish would be as they seem to have a high price tag

Good wilds aren't cheap!
I brought 9 in for me, but didn't bother to import any for retail as I thought most customers wouldn't react kindly to a £40 or £50 price tag on a fish that was, "only an angelfish"

Price wise ... there a dam site cheaper than some of the Discus I have bought Smile
Give what you have quoted these are "reasonable" if they are truely wild fish

the shop owner was not around but the guy that was didnt really have much info on them IE how long they had been in etc

Obviously also depends on quality and size, but I have to say, I'm delighted with mine!

Congrats, looking forward to the photos.
When I got mine I found they were very shy & skittish, so I added a few domestic youngsters, small enough not to threaten them, but keen enough to feed that the Peruvians soon got the idea what to do!

Excellent, they look similar size & quality to the ones I imported, I'm sure you'll be delighted with them as the colour in mine has continued to develop as they've settled in over the last few months!

Walked into the fish house this morning to find I have eggs on ....the heater Sad,not the biggest batch I have seen but great to see I have the conditions right though but eggs will certainly perish, given they have been on a 300w heater all night. Thinking about moving the rest of the fish out of the tank to see if I can raise a batch off these guys.

Now that's what I call a Chrimbo pressy!!

Good news & good luck with them, I've not got anywhere with persuading mine to breed yet, so if you do get any youngsters I might well be interested.
