problem after problem....

Post  jaymiller on Sat 02 Jun 2012, 21:41

hi all!

ok again ive hit another problem. as i posted before about my pair being scared that has calmed down a bit, they are still a little jumpy but not as bad.

ok heres the updates its now been 5 weeks and 4 days since the last spawn. they have stopped eating now and are darting towards the mirror side of the tank. the female also dives at the male.

temp 28 c
PH 6.8

today i moved the tank around a little trying to cover the back wall of the tank as much as i can (the mirror side)

im starting to get inpatient with this pair now as they seem to be doing nothing...

If they were mine, I'd move them back into a community tank, and let them settle down before trying them again. In the mean time, if you want to try a different pair in the breeding tank, then do a big water change, and if possible install a carbon filter first. Make sure the breeding tank has plenty of cover, try to encourage some algae to grow on the mirrored surface.

No, you can't put them straight in but you could add some of your show tanks water to the tank they are in every so often to raise the ph slowly.
